1.
Oliver Twist was born in an unfortunate poverty-stricken town. Fate
didn’t play easy with him as his mother passed away not long after his birth.
Not knowing his background, his life started roughly as he had no choice but
to be sent to a baby farm. 2.
It was at his ninth birthday where his life entered a new chapter,
when a visitor convinced him to move to the workhouse. Along with other boys,
he was facing hunger from the minimal meals that were served. Fate seemed to
bias Oliver. He was forced to take a bold act of asking for extra meal portion.
An act that lead to him being punished and discarded to another family. 3.
The new family who’d taken Oliver was no different than the workhouse.
The parish undertaker had seemed to find use in him and therefore cherished
him. This irritated his wife and Noah, a charity boy, in many ways. His
teases has triggered Oliver in ways he never felt, causing a riot between
them. After hearing this, Mr. Sowerberry who was previously on his side,
punished him. The cruelty they did towards him was what drove him to sneak
out to London. 4.
The journey to London was no easy escape. After 7 days of exhausting
walk, he finally arrived in his destination with the help of a friend,
Dodger. Finally realizing he’s got no home, he was lead to a shelter where he
met Fagin, the owner, and kids his age. He had soon realized that a job now
awaits him. |
1.
I empathized with the situation he’s in. From this, I comprehend that
being born in an adequate and appropriate environment, as well as being
supported by a family is a special privilege not everybody has. 2.
Life is cruel when you have no power. Fighting is not an option; you
are forced to carry out the orders of those in charge. Sometimes, you have no
choice but to follow where this will all lead you. I do think they must be
that hungry to think someone would actually eat them to get an extra “meal”. 3.
Jealousy is not something that comes invited, nor will we know what bad
things are brought with it. We must always hear every side of the story. 1
side of the wall certainly won’t construct a solid room. Hence, every perspective
is required in order to draw conclusions. Sometimes
when we’re tired, we feel tempted to run away from our problems. I think that
no matter how long you run, it’s only a temporary escape; your problem won’t
just disappear the moment you try to break free. But I do feel that with the
situation he’s in, he doesn’t have much choice. 4.
It was fate whom decided to let him live. Seeing from his miserable
condition, he was sure to be dead not long after his arrival. I think it was
a miracle that a boy has come to him and offers him a chance to restart his
life. Every
pleasure comes with a price. You don’t get something for free, you have to
work and earn it. It is only natural that Oliver works in return for the
shelter he accepted. |
